It's a Reggae Xmas!
Preview
Lion Train is the brainchild of T Carthy (yes, the 'T' of T and Latouche!), longstanding bass player of the now extinct Edward II. When EII split in 1999, T went on to initiate the Lion Train project, a collective of black musicians dedicated to the memory of Bob Marley. However, Lion Train is not a tribute band. Hailed as the greatest interpreters of Bob Marley in the country, Lion Train are on a serious mission to resurrect the spirit of his words and music, but with a range of other material.
The eight piece core of the new group includes legendary artists such as Chris Campbell, who played guitar with Finley Quaye, performing on his hit CD, 'Maverick, a strike'; Finley's drummer Delroy Morgan; on keyboards, Barry Lawrence of Sweet Sensations and Macka B's guitarist, Basher Roberts. Sax, a second keyboard and percussion complete the line-up.
The three harmony singers have backed numerous reggae bands and were recently seen on 'Later with Jools' with New Order.
The lead vocals come from a combination of three artists, all superb singers in their own right, alternating to provide an exciting and spectacular focus. Never less than 12 on stage, Lion Train have the power to lay down the rhythm in true reggae style - another night to stretch the Talbot stage and dance floor!
